Talent Wars: U.S. and Global Pay Growth in a Time of Low Unemployment and Preparing for the Workforce of the Future
Unemployment is at historic lows in most states and countries, and minimum/living wage rates in California and some other states, as well as major metro areas such as Los Angeles are rising aggressively. But what is happening at higher job levels? During this presentation, you’ll find out about the latest trends in the US and internationally, and how employers are responding. We will also review how the most recent talent trends are changing based on the workforce of the future.
In this session, we’ll:
- Map out wage growth by country, and compare it to inflation
- Review the US data by industry and occupational groups and point out key trends
- Discuss US minimum and living wage initiatives, both legislated and voluntary, and how they’re impacting compression and salary structure designs
- Consider alternatives where wages are rising at unsustainable rates
- Provide examples of talent trends and their impact
We’ll offer an interactive session and will provide opportunities for participants to share any interesting approaches they’ve implemented or tried. Our presentation will include results from Mercer’s Global Talent Trends Survey, Global Compensation Planning Survey, Compensation Around the World survey and THRIVE campaign.
